SHORE TO SHORE works with families with deaf or hard of hearing children to provide parents, siblings and extended family members educational and emotional support in the early decision making stages of their child’s hearing loss and beyond. We offer resources and information to parents to empower them in their role as their child’s first and primary teacher. Our professional Parent Educator is committed to providing services in a family center environment, respecting all communication modes and styles, to facilitate active involvement of parents in their child’s social, emotional and educational growth. Educational series and support groups provide an opportunity for parents to discuss concerns and share experiences with other parents while obtaining information about deaf culture and awareness of current research. Playgroups give deaf and hard of hearing children and their parents a chance to interact with others in our fully equipped Early Childhood Center. Annual family social events allow increased connections between families of deaf and hard of hearing children, professionals, businesses and teachers in a relaxed, fun filled setting.
